After Tockington
Moving on from Tockington Manor after 13
We pride ourselves on providing unbiased advice and assistance in selecting the next stage for your child. Our Headmaster maintains close relationships with all the Bristol independent senior schools as well as with schools in Taunton, Wales, Cheltenham and beyond to prestigious schools nationally and internationally. A high proportion of our pupils win scholarships to the country’s top senior schools.
Individual Guidance For A Stress-free Transition
Mr Symonds works closely with parents and pupils to ensure a smooth, stress-free transition into senior school. He is able to recommend the most suitable school for each child at Tockington Manor, based on a detailed knowledge of their strengths and capabilities and he welcomes private discussion with parents on this.
Our 100% Success Rate for Senior School Choices
We have an exceptional record of achievement in Common Entrance examinations and all our pupils gain entry to their first-choice senior school.

Attaining Scholarships
Pupils with outstanding ability across varying disciplines are encouraged to work for scholarship exams with extra workshops and after-school clubs provided. In the past two years, we are incredibly proud of our Tockington Manor School pupils, who were awarded more than 45 scholarships to a variety of different educational establishments. Our Pathway Programme offers additional support for talented pupils who would like to gain scholarships.

Entrance to Clifton College
As of 31 May 2024, we are very proud to have become a member of the Clifton College Education Group. This association not only bears testament to Tockington’s value as a growing Independent Preparatory School near Bristol, but also brings closer ties with Clifton College itself given our shared ethos and values. Tockington maintains an objective view on recommending senior schools to its pupils but a seamless transition is easier within the group.
Joining TMS for Year 7 and 8 not only gave our son a chance to prepare for senior school, but the extra support with his cricket helped him earn a full sports scholarship to his first choice school.

The Tockington Family
When you join Tockington Manor you become part of the Tockington family and all Year 8 leavers are encouraged to keep in touch with the school. We are very proud of our many former pupils (Old Tockingtonians) who have gone on to achieve great success in the arts, academia, sport and business. We love to hear from our former pupils as they continue their success through their education and future careers:
‘Tockington Manor is the ideal environment to be able to develop emotionally, socially and academically. Those final two years allowed me to explore my leadership and organisational skills; both of which have been key to my senior school experience. Having now finished school, I look back on Tockington with such fondness. I am grateful for the helpful staff and stunning environment that I was able to grow up in.”
